Our Story
Mold Inspection and Testing was established in 2009, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and has since expanded to serve over 50 metropolitan areas across the United States. The company was founded on a simple but important observation: there is a fundamental conflict of interest in the mold industry when the same company that evaluates your property for mold is also the one that performs the remediation work.
When the people finding the problem are also the people getting paid to fix it, there is an inherent incentive to overstate the severity of the issue or to identify problems where none exist. We saw this happening across the industry and knew there had to be a better way. That realization became the foundation of our business model: we test -- we never remediate. By separating inspection from remediation, we provide truly independent, unbiased results that our customers can trust.

Scott Heinrich founded Mold Inspection and Testing in 2009 after recognizing a critical flaw in the mold industry: the companies evaluating homes for mold were the same companies profiting from the remediation work. This conflict of interest meant that homeowners could never be sure whether they were getting an honest assessment or a sales pitch.
Scott built MI&T on the principle that inspection and remediation should always be separate. Under his leadership, the company has grown from a single market to a nationwide operation serving over 50 metropolitan areas, all while maintaining the independence and customer-first approach that defined the company from day one.
His vision for MI&T extends beyond testing -- it is about changing how consumers think about mold.
